Inspiration 213: Notice the Invisible

This mushroom was an unplanned element of this planter on my front porch. It opened up this week. I noticed it when I was watering plants. I like the way it slid right in between the pot and the succulents in the arrangement. It made me look twice at something I saw each day. Because it was new, it made me look at the other elements differently.

Have you ever noticed that after a while you stop seeing the things in your world? The photos on your desk, the pictures on your walls, or even the plants in your porch? You take such time and effort picking them out, hanging and arranging them in careful displays, only to end up not seeing them at all. They become such a part of your daily view that they become invisible. Isn’t that a shame.

Are there people in your world that fall into this same trap? We see them everyday, yet no longer notice them? What about the security guard, receptionist, cross guard, waitress or gas station attendant? All these people serve an important purpose, yet after a while they become invisible? Take time today to notice them and say thank you for their service. When we take time to notice the invisible, our attitude of gratitude becomes contagious….and the invisible people and the services they provide become invaluable.
