Inspiration 203: Be Open to the New Dance

This carnival glass from Indiana is an amazing example of color and vintage combined into one. I saw these on sale and had to snap a  shot of the colors and varieties of reflections on the glass. Blue, green, red, gold, even silver appear – and each view changes with movement.

This glass reminds me that there is a balance between staying constant and changing with the times. There is something to be admired about the person who is consistent and ever true to themselves. There is also value in being able to learn new things and change with the times. The REAL challenge is knowing who you are and what you believe in a world that is constantly offering new, better, faster, smarter and different ways of doing things. It is important not to compromise who you are because better comes along, and yet remain flexible enough to listen to new and see how it compliments what you already believe.

Like carnival glass we need to understand our own unique values and beliefs, and protect them for future generations…and yet particpate in new ways so our values are there for others to be able to receive our gifts. When carnival glass gets used, it shows a whole other side of itself. During use is when the light dances even more upon it’s surface. Stay true to yourself and be open to the new dance…
