Inspiration 127: Set Yourself Up for Success

This drawer from a printer’s press was taken earlier this Spring. I loved the way someone back in the early 1900’s organized and labeled their work area. I was struck that they not only used words, but increased the size and shape of the fonts to make it easy to recognize in which drawer their types were stored. At a glance they could identify what was where, and readily access what they need. It also allowed someone who might not know thefonts  well to learn which one looked like what.

How do you organzie your tools? Our brains all work differently, and yet the more organized we are at the start the better we are able to utilize our time and resources down the line. Do you have drawers, folders or even plastic cups to keep things straight? The goal in organizing is not being a neat freak, the goal is to create a work area where you can be most efficient and effectively produce. It’s about what inspires you to do more AND produce your best work.

I encourage you today to take a fresh look at your work area and set it up to be able to produce good work. You can’t control much, so take control of what you can…set yourself up for success!
