This is the bark of a holly bush we cut down in front of our house. I thought it looked like the legs of an elephant…weathered, worn, strong and sturdy. Strong and sturdy, no kidding! My husband and I were shocked at how hard it was to cut down…it took both of us taking turns on the reciprocating saw to get it down. Whew, that was a job and a surprise. The holly bush was stronger than I ever imagined.
I bet you are too! Sometimes we forget what it took to get us where we are – the turmoil, bad choices, good luck, prayer, struggles and even blind faith – all have helped us be stronger than we thought we could ever be. Take one silent moment today to remember a situation from your past when you thought you would NEVER get through, and be thankful that those days are behind you. It might not all be resolved, and yet it is behind you. Like this holly bush I sometimes feel weathered and worn…but I’m still here! And when the dust settles, I plan to keep going. I hope you have that resolve as well…
