Wow, not only has 2012 come and gone, the first month of 2013 is over tomorrow. Time does fly!!! And I mean REALLY flies. I just paid the state of Georgia our sales tax amount for the previous year. Not fun to send the government big checks, it would be better to keep that money in our pocket. HOWEVER, two points here– by having to send them big checks it means we had a great year! And by paying our taxes we are contributing to the entire community and supporting those who will benefit from the funds we inject into the system (I won’t start a blog on government spending – you don’t want to hear THAT!)
For sure, in 2012 we doubled our sales from the previous year. That’s exciting, amazing, and a bit astounding!!! It’s not until you see the sales figures actually totaled that you realize your overall performance. I am proud of what we accomplished last year, and I look forward to an even bigger year in 2013. Many thanks to everyone who supported us, bought our art, attended our events, and followed us to shows. We couldn’t have done it without all of you. And thank you to the creative people who encouraged each of us along our path and inspired us to do even more creative things!
Our goal for 2013 is to double last year’s sales – wow! When I put that in writing, it seems a bit daunting…but not impossible. We have our show schedule pretty solid and have begun a new advertising campaign in local magazines and a potential national directory. We are beginning to investigate wholesale options, and another avenue in furniture sales.
So we have the plan, we have the timeline, now we have to execute. A woman I mentor told me a great quote recently – live rewards action! How true! People want to follow people who are going somewhere and accomplishing something – stagnant doesn’t cut it. So this year (even if you have already broken that New Year’s resolution) you can be a person of action. Make your plan, overcome your fears and doubts, and ACT! The laws of physics state that a body in motion tends to stay in motion and a body at rest tends to stay at rest. Be that body in motion and go out and DO SOMETHING! That blank piece of paper or canvas or piece of wood will not magically turn into a work of art, you need to do it to it. YOU need to funnel your creative juices and produce. Because live does indeed reward action…so act.
