4 Days left, time to document…

Gulp! Four days, like this week. On Thursday I will be getting up to go set up for the show. Wow! time has just flown. Kevin and I spent Sunday afternoon documenting the show. What does that mean? Well, I wrote down in one book the phrases, poems, sayings, quotes and verbiage that are utilized in every piece I am taking. “Don’t you already have them written down – you’re kidding me?” Yes, I have them in books, sketch books, portfolios and lots of other places, but the pieces in this show are now all in ONE place. This way I can document what piece first appeared at which show, whether it was framed or unframed, and the words that were emphasized in my work. I want to be able to track the trends of my shows and see if there is a pattern to what sells. This is my first show, so it is the benchmark for all future shows.

I know I keep saying it, but I am GREATLY blessed to have people who support me. My husband spent four hours putting every piece – framed and unframed – on an easel, with lighting and angles, taking a picture of each and every one. We ended up with over 400 photos that will now be reviewed and edited. We will keep one shot of each piece and electronically document them. So I can see trends in my work, recreate popular pieces in the future and remember what I did by viewing the pictures. I would hate to have someone say, “Do you remember that piece…” and have to answer, no…I cant remember that piece. I will take 139 works of art to this show. I am okay with the overall number and have a slight fear that I may sell out. But, as my Mom says, that would be a GREAT problem to have…gulp!

Here are a few shots of Kevin as he and I worked through the inventory taking photos of each one…and I know you are not surprised by this time to see his little helper. I think she is working on her MFA…masters in feline art!
