Couldn’t sleep. Woke up with thoughts and ideas whirling around my head. With only 26 days to go until the American Craft Council Show, we made great progress and some very important decisions.
1. We are not going to use the kimono piece in the booth. It’s too big. Kevin set up the display panels in the gallery to the size of the booth, and we realized that the kimono piece would take up too much wall space in the booth. So we are going to use it in the gallery and not take it to the show. Better to know that now than to have spent many nights and weekends finishing it, only to find out it was too big. (And our ever-present ‘art critic’ sat in her favorite chair and gave us her nod of approval!)
2. Dad finished the unframed mat display holders, and we put in some completed pieces to test them out. They worked GREAT! Customers will be able to fan through my work very quickly, easily and we will be able to refill the holder easily as well.
3. I completed 15 more pieces of unframed work. I am beginning to get the hang of production mode which is good…I am going to be in it for a while longer. The completed pieces are ‘bagged’ and ready for pricing.
4. Mom made great headway on the curtains for the display tables. We decided not to sew the curtains into one long curtain, in order to make it easier to reach under the table during the show. This is where Mom’s expertise and experience in all her shows comes in handy. Her wisdom is the voice of reality in all this.
5. The other pieces that are in production are drying and looking great. Kevin took pictures of mats, larger pieces and of my many books and idea pages so you can see how spread out it all gets.
