27 Days

Okay, I spent 15 hours in the studio in production mode – BIG TIME production mode. And it felt good. I completed 12 smaller pieces and moved three large pieces to the framing stage. That may not sound like a lot, but it is a HUGE move forward. It shows me that I can get the work done before the show and not go crazy!!!

And I wasn’t the only one there. The studio resembled Santa’s workshop – all the elves were busy completing their tasks. Kevin was cutting mat board into backings. He completed nearly eighty pieces cut to size. And because he completed them, I was able to move the 12 smaller pieces to complete. I created the calligraphy for each of them, then positioned them on the mat backing, then secured them together and set them under our ‘weight’ (a big, heavy wooden piece Dad built) and let them dry. Once they were dry we put them in the book press (once again, Dad built that as well!) to prevent them from being damaged. Today they will move into plastic bags where they will be boxed and wait for price tags. Truly a production line of creation!

Mom spent her day working on various items to help me get the booth ready. She is making the table skirts that are going to be utilized in the booth.  She is also confirming our orders for various items we need, and helping send out the mailer for the show to our client base.

Dad was in the wood working shop creating the display pieces that will hold the smaller unframed works. Because not only do I have to create the inventory, we have to have some way to display it once we arrive at the show. LOTS of planning for this one. The cats are also helping…sort of…

I would love to tell you more about all this, but it’s back to the studio for me. I’ll let you know how today goes…stay tuned!
