Okay, I have been busy producing mats and artwork. I spent the entire weekend in the studio completing work for the show and completing stages for works in progress. Production mode is exciting and fun and I feel very creative. Production mode is also tiring and draining. My brain sometimes works faster than my hands are able to create. Production mode also requires that you have a lot of supplies on hand. So if you change direction or change from one idea to another you have the tools, supplies and materials you need to see the idea to completion. Nothing will squash creativity like a road trip to the art supply store…especially from our house (where the trip is at LEAST two hours round trip!). Being prepared and supplied up is crucial. Production mode therefore requires preparation and thinking and creativity and time…lots and lots of time. Production mode requires that you track your progress and plan your TO DO list. I have things I have to do, so does my awesome husband, my parents…all of which are ‘my peeps’!!! This show thing requires lots of hands on deck, and an artist can’t do it alone. Production mode requires a lot…
Whew! Are you tired yet? Are you a bit frazzled and flakey and feeling as if you are running around on a caffeine high with a creativity chaser? Good – then you feel like I feel. This is an AMAZING time and I am savoring every moment I create. I am not complaining, more like exclaiming!
Production mode is a time of testing. Are there enough ideas in my head to keep my hands busy? Are the ideas and works I am creating something that people will want to see, read, buy? Gulp! There’s that money word…buy! Sell! Profit! It does not all boil down to money, but production mode indeed takes time and money. I am grateful that my ‘day job’ allows me the funds and mental freedom after work hours to create and execute and sustain myself in production mode.
Only 32 more days until the show…stay tuned. More fun updates on production mode to follow!
