Well, it’s true. I have been accepted into my first national juried show! I was contacted by the American Craft Council and offered a booth in the March 2011 show in Atlanta. I was #1 on the waitlist, so I had first dibs on the booth. Needless to say, I said ‘YES!!!’
What that means now is that I go head first into production mode. I am very blessed to have a strong support system with me along this path. My parents are my ‘show experts’. They traveled the U.S. for many years, from show to show selling and showing my mom’s watercolors. Her work is awesome and their expertise on shows has already proven to be invaluable in this endeavour. My husband Kevin is my greatest cheerleader and constant ‘nudge’ as well. I also have friends and fans who have already contacted me about the show and look forward to seeing my work and helping if necessary.
I read a great quote today that said, “Creativity is thinking up new ideas. Innovation is doing new things.” So the time has come for me to innovate, do new things and for 2011 that means this show. Designing a booth, building that booth, creating all the work to be sold at the show (I am estimating between 250-300 pieces) and then working the show for three and a half days. Wow! Just writing it seems like a lot of work…maybe work isn’t the right word. I am not sure what that word is, but as soon as I figure it out I will let you know.
So stay tuned as I write about our escapades in getting ready for the show. We will be utilizing this holiday season to prepare… it is a time for family, friends and thankfulness. It is a time to share blessings and rejoice in the greatest gift ever given – Jesus Christ. It is a time to reflect and prepare for a new, exciting journey in a brand new year. It is a time to get things ‘straight’ and develop opportunities. It is a time to set priorities and action plans…it is a time to refresh, renew and repair…it is a time to kick-off a new adventure!
Let the creating begin…
